Brittany Ferries CAP FINISTERE is set to make her debut on the Rosslare to Spain route during January. The 204m long ferry will replace CONNEMARA from January 18 according to the online timetable.

This will allow CONNEMARA to release MN PELICAN on the Poole – Bilbao route for maintenance.

Poole is a restricted port and the Visentini class, of which CONNEMARA is a member, are the largest ferries to operate from the port to date.

CONNEMARA was the first in the class to operate from the port, as LD Lines NORMAN ASTURIAS during November 2013. This followed berthing trials by near-sister NORMAN VOYAGER (currently ETRETAT) on October 15 that year.

At present, CAP FINISTERE‘s final sailing between Spain and Ireland is scheduled for Thursday February 11 ex Bilbao.

Although the route is normally between Bilbao and Rosslare, CAP FINISTERE is currently timetabled to make her first Spain – Ireland round-trip from Santander. Afterwards the route reverts to Bilbao – Rosslare.

CAP FINISTERE was originally constructed as SUPERFAST V and is a part-sister to the former STENA SUPERFAST X. The two ships share a common hull-form.

Prior to her present charter to Corsica Linea, STENA SUPERFAST X acted as a relief vessel on Stena’s Rosslare – Cherbourg route. STENA SUPERFAST X presently sails as A NEPITA.

CAP FINISTERE is currently undergoing routine maintenance at Astander shipyard. Once completed, it is understood that she will be laid up until required on the Rosslare – Spain link. She was replaced on her regualar Portsmouth – Santander route earlier this month by GALICIA.

CONNEMARA is currently on charter to Brittany Ferries from Stena RoRo. According to Shippax Info Dec 2020, Brittany Ferries recently extended her charter for a further 24 months. Brittany Ferries has been contacted for confirmation.
