It is now possible to book 2015 Larne to Troon sailings on the P&O website. The biggest change to the timetable is the reduction to a single round trip per day departing Larne at 16:00 (arriving 18:15) and Troon at 19:15 (arriving 21:30) EXCEPT Saturdays where Express will depart Larne at 08:00 and return at 19:15 as normal and Fridays where she departs Larne at 08:15 and Tronn at 11:45. A second round trip departing Larne at 08:15 and Troon at 11:45 will be added from 26/6/15 for the school holidays resulting in 2 departures 7 days a week.  Picture: HSC Express.  Copyright Scott Mackey (Updated 10/11/14)

Stena Birkenhead twins confirmed dry-dock dates

Stena Lagan and Stena Mersey will be out of service on the following dates: Stena Lagan dry-docking at A&P Falmouth confirmed for the 3-15 December 2014.. Stena Mersey dry-docking at Harland & Wolff Belfast confirmed for the 20 November -1st December. This will be Stena Lagan‘s first trip to Falmouth. Stena Feronia (ex Mersey Viking, Dublin Viking, Dublin Seaways) will return to Belfast to cover both ships in their absence.  With Stena Nordica also visiting Harland and Wolff on the 15th and 16th of November, Belfast photographers will have the opportunity to capture 2 visiting Stena ferries this month.

As has been reported elsewhere, Stena Nordica will make a brief trip up to Belfast for a short dry docking at Harland and Wolff on the 15th and 16th of this month. Stena Performer is currently at H&W for the weekend – cover is being provided by Stena Hibernia which usually lays over during the weekend.

Quick sailing/weather update

Due to heavy winds, both Stena and P&O services are suffering disruption. All P&O Express sailings are cancelled today with passengers being offered later sailings onboard the Cairnryan ships where available. Stena are also experiencing delays with Stena Superfast VIII in particular having to take a very unusual course this afternoon.  This mornings departure for Belfast from Birkenhead was also delayed by around 45 mins. A yellow weather warning for wind is currently in force for Northern Ireland and Scotland. As always, please contact your ferry company of choice for the latest information https://www.dropbox.com/s/7pquryv8arvnm7j/Screenshot%202014-08-17%2017.28.46.png

Stena Mersey back in service

Stena Mersey returned to service this morning and made good progress to Birkenhead.  Hopefully her technical issues are now fixed and she will have a reliable summer season ahead!

Stena Mersey off service today

Following her arrival from Birkenhead this afternoon, Stena Lagan has been off service in order to try and resolve her technical problems.  Stena Lagan’s departure for Liverpool tonight is currently delayed by 60 minutes.   As always please contact Stena Line Ferry Check on 08705 755755 for further information

Stena Mersey technical problems

Tonights sailing from Birkenhead is currently delayed until approx 01:45 tomorrow morning due to technical problems with Stena Mersey.  At the time of writing this mornings sailing has yet to arrive in Birkenhead with Stena Mersey having made slow progress at around 12kts across the Irish Sea today since leaving Belfast this morning. Please contact Stena Ferry Check on +44 (0) 8705 755 755 for the latest information and before altering any travel plans.

Service update

The following is from P&O   “P&O Ferries Updates @POferriesupdate Please note there will be no sailing @ 16:30 ex Larne or 20:00 ex Cairnryan today. All other services are operating as scheduled.” Additionally Stena Superfast VII is off today for some maintenance, so just 1 ship for each Stena and P&O running today.  It would appear that this is another technical issue for European Causeway.  No indication how long she will be off service for yet.

North Channel update – Stena and P&O

We have been advised that Stena Line will have Superfast VIII withdrawn for maintenance between Tuesday and Thursday.  Her last sailing will be tonights midnight departure from Lough Ryan Port.  It had been earlier reported (but not on this site) that she would be withdrawn today, but delays at H&W have led to this being postponed. Due to the ongoing improvement works at Cairnryan it is expected that there will be a 48 hour stoppage from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th of May in order for the new linkspan and conventional ferry berth to be completed, with services resuming on the 26th using the new berth.  No further details are available at present, with the details above subject to change.

Latest from the North Channel

Stena Superfast VII left Harland and Wollf this afternoon and headed for Victoria Terminal 4, I assume to take up her normal schedule from the 19:30 departure onwards. Stena Hibernia has returned to the Birkenhead schedule a day early. European Highlander is still in drydock with what looks to be serious technical problems.  Its a very wet and blowy evening out there, let’s hope there are no further delays.
