Stena Line’s Belfast – Birkenhead Ro-Pax STENA MERSEY arrived in Larne this morning, apparently for an In Water Survey (IWS).  As Monday is normally a layover day (in the morning and afternoon) she was able to make the trip without any changes to the timetable.  Larne is ideal for an IWS as it is a “clear water” port, unlike Belfast.  This means that divers are able to inspect the hull while it is still in the water, saving the time (and expense) of a dry docking when no maintenance is needed. She was on the berth at Curran Quay from around 11:00.

The ship left Larne at around 5pm and was back in Belfast at around 18:30 ahead of taking up tonights overnight sailing to Birkenhead.  Pictured below are STENA MERSEY at Larne with P&O Ferries EUROPEAN CAUSEWAY around 13:00 this afternoon.
