Irish Ferries received a third award in the space of a week for W.B. YEATS yesterday evening.  The ferry was awarded the first ever “Ferry of the Year” award at the Ferry Shipping Summit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The award was presented to the operator alongside shipyard Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG and) interior architect OSK Shiptech. As can be seen below the vessel was praised for it’s interior and exterior design, operational flexibility, and vehicle capacity. W.B. YEATS is currently in service on the Dublin to Cherbourg route until autumn, when she will switch back to the Dublin to Holyhead route in place of the Ro-Pax EPSILON and fast-craft DUBLIN SWIFT.

Named after the great Irish poet, the ferry W.B. YEATS cannot fail to impress with its striking exterior, massive ro-ro decks, and its modern, timeless interior design. The vessel has been designed with maximum flexibility in mind, to serve both the short Irish Sea route and the long Ireland-France route.
This high-quality and operationally efficient ship was built at the Flensburg-based shipyard FSG (Flensburger Schiffbau Gesellschaft).

The main interior design comes from OSK – Ship Tech.

Irish Ferries (represented by Andrew Sheen, CEO), FSG (represented by Andre Powilleit, Head of Sales and Design) and OSK – Ship Tech (represented by Henrique Pestana, Sales Manager) were all presented with the award and saluted for this ship that is prepared for a possible future change to LNG, should the need arise.

The award follows last weeks Shippax awards when the vessel was awarded the ‘Ferry Concept Award 2018’ as well as an award for interior architecture.
