P&O Ferries recently welcomed three Travel and Tourism Students from Larne High School to learn about Customers Service as part of their studies.

During the visit, the students enjoyed a tour of the P&O Ferries port and learned about its customer service processes, guided by Nichola McConnell, Senior Customer Operations Supervisor. Along with the rest of the P&O Ferries team, Nichola shared some of the key facts about the shortest and most frequent ferry crossings between Northern Ireland and Scotland and the customer service demands of operating such a frequent and popular service.

We are always keen to provide information and real life experience to local students who are interested in developing a career in the Travel and Tourism industry.

“Last year we welcomed on board more than 400,000 customers on our Larne – Cairnryan route, these outstanding volumes would not have been achieved were it not for the highly professional, friendly reliable service our customers enjoy.”

Student Jodie Bell from Larne High School, said: “It was great to get this type of first hand insight into how P&O Ferries manages its customer services. It was really interesting to hear about the different operations and areas of work within P&O Ferries and how they are continuously making improvements to ensure the best possible experience for all their customers.

“As a Travel and Tourism student I want to pursue a career within the travel and tourism industry and the visit to P&O Ferries has opened my eyes to the type of job that I can see myself doing in the future, and that’s very exciting.”
