Stena Line’s Japanese-built freighter STENA SCOTIA has changed her home port to Douglas as the result of a change in flag from The Netherlands to the Isle of Man (UK Second Register). Previously she had a home port of Vlaardingen since April 2008, and Scheveningen [NL] since her delivery in 1996 until the change to Vlaardingen. The change of flag follows STENA SCOTIA‘s permanent transfer to the Irish Sea as the replacement for STENA PERFORMER on the Belfast – Heysham route. STENA FORERUNNER which also transferred to the Irish Sea as a replacement vessel will retain her Dutch flag as she will move back to the North Sea when replaced by similar sized tonnage early in 2019.

The change to STENA SCOTIA‘s flag took place alongside at Harland & Wolff’s Ship Repair Quay (SRQ) on September 3rd. Sister-ship STENA HIBERNIA is also flagged in the British Isles (London) as are STENA SUPERFAST VII/VIII (Belfast) and STENA LAGAN/MERSEY (Belfast).
