Update 12.08.19 @ 00:20: STENA MERSEY left Birkenhead for Belfast this evening as planned and is currently underway to Belfast. She had left Gladstone Dock 2 at 17:20, arriving at 12 Quays Birkenhead via Gladstone Lock at around 18:00.

Update 11.08.19 @ 21:00: Stena Line’s STENA MERSEY will return to service with tonight’s 22:30 sailing from Liverpool (Birkenhead) to Belfast.  Photos on social media suggest that she had an issue with her stern ramp, with work clearly taking taking place on it when she was pictured moored at Liverpool’s Gladstone Dock 2.

The return to service of Stena Line’s STENA MERSEY has been delayed further. She is currently not expected to be back in service until Monday August 12 according to the live freight timetable. STENA MERSEY has been out of service with a technical problem since July 28. Sister-ship STENA LAGAN remains the only passenger vessel on the Belfast to Liverpool (Birkenhead) route this week as a result.

Rosslare to Fishguard’s STENA EUROPE meanwhile looks set to miss the entire summer season. Her first sailing after her life extension work is now not scheduled until at least September 1st, again according to the live freight timetable. The veteran ferry has been at Gemak shipyard in Turkey since March 23rd undergoing a life-extension refit. STENA NORDICA remains on the Fishguard to Rosslare schedule to continue to cover STENA EUROPE‘s absence.
