Stena Line’s STENA EUROPE left dry-dock yesterday and appeared to embark on sea trials. The veteran Swedish-built multipurpose ferry has been undergoing life extension work in Turkey since March, which has severely overrun due to unforeseen problems. She is currently at Istanbul Anchorage where it has been speculated she is receiving bunkers before making her way back to the UK. Once she sets off the voyage should take around 10 days, but it is unlikely the vessel will go straight back into service on arrival.

At present, according to the Stena Line Freight online live timetable, STENA EUROPE is expected back in service on September 16th, but with the vessel still in Turkey this would seem unlikely. STENA NORDICA has acted as relief vessel on the Fishguard to Rosslare route in STENA EUROPE’s absence. At present she does not reappear on the timetable for her usual Karlskrona- Gdynia route until after September 30th. The “live” timetable is not yet available for the route after this date.
