Following our story yesterday about the possible deployment of Stena Line’s extended E-Flexer’s, Stena Line has released the following statement:

Stena Line ordered the extended E-Flexers in 2018; as has been proven in the Irish Sea these vessels are incredible flexible around our route network. Since the COVID pandemic the world has changed dramatically but we still see these vessels as a strategic asset for our future.

We are continuously monitoring the market development to make sure we plan our fleet and network to ensure we can support our customers in the best way possible. There are several alternative routes where to deploy the flexible two longer newbuilds but it is not decided or confirmed which one. Nynäshamn to Ventspils is one alternative.

Our focus at present is the ongoing expansion of our operation in the Baltic Sea with the introduction of Stena Scandica and Stena Baltica on the route Nynäshamn-Ventspils which will increase the lane meter capacity with 30 per cent as well as the new vessels on Travemünde-Liepaja that will increase lane meter capacity with 40 per cent.
