Storm Rachel afternoon/early evening update (NI), 15/1/15

Severe disruption to ferry services continues as storm Rachel continues to batter both the UK and Ireland. All Stena services to and from Cairnryan and Belfast are either cancelled or in doubt (see below), with both vessels shortly to be in Belfast – Stena Superfast VIII left Cairnryan at around 12:30 and is currently approaching Belfast Lough (at 14:10).

Update: 17:30 Next sailing from LRP will be a delayed 1930 hrs departing at approx 2200 hrs
Tonights departure for Liverpool (Birkenhead) will leave 30 minutes early at 22:00, whilst this mornings sailing was cancelled. The same also applies to the sailings from Birkenhead to Belfast. Again, this information is taken from Ferry check. Stena Lagan is currently alongside at VT2 Belfast.

P&O’s latest update via twitter (early this morning) states that all Larne – Cairnryan sailings are cancelled until further notice. European Highlander is idle in Larne whereas European Causeway is at the berth in Cairnryan.

(Update 17:30:  Both ships are still moored with no further updates from P&O)
