Site updates (a quickie)
After a period of absence due to illness, the following updates have taken place in the past week or so: Stena Navigator history and technical information published. This is in a slightly changed format from the vessel profiles published to-date, with photographs and headings throughout.  All other vessel profiles will be updated to this format in the coming weeks (updates to these pages will not be posted to Facebook or Twitter so as not to clog up peoples feeds/walls). The end of an era: Goodbye to P&O’s Express feature, published. Further photographs added to the Stena Superfast VII/VIII, Express, and Manannan pages. Update on the former Stena Antrim published. Stena Line sailing updates published (see sailing updates in the main menu). Twitter account added, activated, and linked (add us @NI_Ferry_Site for live updates of new content). Site news and updates for end of June 2015
News Im delighted to be able to announce that Alan Geddes has agreed that his photographs may be used on NIFerrySite. Alan’s photographs are mainly taken within the Belfast harbour area, and often from an elevated position, giving them a perspective not often seen elsewhere. Alan’s photographs will continue to be added to many of the profiles (and also the former ferries photo feature) in the coming weeks – a number have already been added. In the meantime, why not check out Alan’s Flickr page. Don’t forget you can also find links to the flickr accounts (where applicable) of the other photographers featured on this site on the links page. New ferries added The following vessel profiles which where added recently, have had technical data, photographs, and some history added: Seacat Scotland Seacat Danmark The Seacat Isle of Man/Snaefell and Hoverspeed Great Britain pages should be finished in the coming week. Site news and update for 9/6/15
Good Evening everyone, update time again! After a long days work, a number of the previous (mostly performance) issues with the site now seem to be resolved. We have switched to a new colour scheme as well as a new theme – the Inkness Theme by InkHive giving the site a new look. The appearance may change a little over the coming days as feedback comes in, but the overall structure shall remove the same. There has also been a change in the database structure and particularly the “permalinks”. This should make bookmarking and sharing easier, as well as allowing search engines to index the correct pages. Finally, some further pictures and text have been added to the now updated Former NI ferries page (which is now in a new category called features), and I have also started writing the individual posts for a number of former favourites. This should fill ... Read more
Site update, 1st April
Just a few changes have been made to the site over the past week. New “sailing updates” category added as a sub-category of news.  This is to keep the sailing updates from cluttering up other local news such as dry dockings, permanent timetable changes, or fleet movements. New photographs added to Stena Mersey/Lagan page.  All photographs across the site are in the process of being refreshed and updated, including the site headers. I have started the process of converting older pages to the newer format/layout (its a subtle change but makes the site a more uniform experience). Welcome page changed to direct new users to the sites accompanying Facebook group for the latest sailing updates (and also inform people of the NI Ferries and Shipping Facebook group). Netscripts SNAP (Social Network Auto Poster) plugin installed.  This will automatically publish any new content to our Facebook page, meaning it is always kept ... Read more

Site updates 10/11/14
After a period of relative inactivity due to off-site commitments, I have now been able to return to updating the website. Â A few minor revisions have been made to articles (mainly removing typographical errors), while an anti-spam plugin has been activated in order to weed out he 30 or so daily spam “trackbacks” the site receives giving me more time to do the important stuff rather than deleting spam! Â I now have the link to facebook sorted out so I am able to share to the NIFerrysite Facebook page when the website is updated – I encourage everyone who wants to be kept up to date to ‘like’ the Facebook page as this will be the first place any updates or news will appear after the main site itself. Some news regarding the Stena refit cover for the Birkenhead sisters has been added with an old friend returning ‘home’. Â Likewise ... Read more
