Rosslare – Fishguard Ferry To Remain Absent While Awaiting Parts for Unforeseen work
Ferry operator Stena Line have released the following statement regarding STENA EUROPE and her continued absence from the Fishguard to Rosslare route:
“During the extensive refit and life extension of the Stena Europe, a number of unforeseen technical issues arose which have resulted in a delay to the ship returning on the Fishguard – Rosslare service. We are awaiting some specialist parts for the vessel and will keep all our travel and freight customers updated.
Stena Line will continue to operate its normal timetable with the Stena Nordica and would like to take this opportunity to apologise to any customers inconvenienced by the unfortunate delayed return of the Stena Europe.”
STENA NORDICA remains in service on the Rosslare – Fishguard route as relief vessel, extending her absence away from her normal Karlskrona – Gdynia route. STENA EUROPE first arrived for her life extension refit on March 23rd after she was released by STENA NORDICA earlier in the same month. Gemak Shipyard Group are undertaking the work at their Tuzla facility.
Stena Line Freight also recently released a statement saying that STENA NORDICA will return to the Karlskrona to Gdynia route “soon”, though they have not yet specified a specific date. ‘Nordica’ will return to her role as “fourth ship” on the route with STENA SPIRIT, STENA VISION, and STENA BALTICA. At present STENA EUROPE is not expected to return to service until at least September according to the Stena Line Freight live timetable, meaning she will have missed the entire summer season on her route.
