Unaccompanied freight specialist CLdN Ro-Ro has announced changes to its Irish Sea services for 2021. The changes come in response to the United Kingdom leaving the EU single market and customs union on December 31.
The previous Porto – Dublin – Liverpool – Dublin – Porto and Santander – Liverpool – Dublin – Liverpool – Santander routes have been replaced with two “triangular” routes. The new routes are Porto – Santander – Dublin – Porto and Porto – Santander – Liverpool – Porto.
The change means that CLdN no longer directly links Dublin and Liverpool. As a result traffic going to and from Dublin will remain inside the EU single market and customs union, and so will not need to comply with any new procedures.
CLdN also continues to offer routes from Dublin to Zeebrugge and Rotterdam and Cork – Zeebrugge. All services are for unaccompanied traffic only. The company has previously said that it hopes to benefit from a modal shift from accompanied transport to lower cost unaccompanied ferry crossings.
