Coopérative de Transport Maritime et Aérien (CTMA) has announced the acquisition of CLIPPER RANGER from Seatruck Ferries. The Ro-Ro freighter had previously been on charter to the Canadian operator from Seatruck since July.
CLIPPER RANGER will soon be renamed CTMA VOYAGEUR II. She has replaced the much older and smaller “Stena Seacarrier” Ro-Ro CTMA VOYAGEUR (ex ANDERIDA, 1971), which will be offered for sale. As RR CHALLENGE / CHALLENGE, LEMBITU , and CLIPPER RANGER the future CTMA VOYAGEUR II has operated to Heysham from Larne, Belfast, Warrenpoint, and Dublin as well as between Dublin and Liverpool in the past. Sister-ship ARROW is currently laid-up at Larne’s Continental Quay and is on long-term charter to Isle of Man Steam Packet as a backup freight ship.
CTMA’s other vessels are also former Irish Sea ferries. C.T.M.A VACANCIER was previously Irish Continental’s ST PATRICK II (which had spells on the Belfast to Liverpool route) and MADELEINE was previously B&I Line and Irish Ferries LEINSTER, ISLE OF INISHMORE, and ISLE OF INISHTURK and Swansea – Cork Ferries’ CITY OF CORK. The company are also known to be on the lookout for a new or used vessel to replace C.T.M.A VACANCIER, which dates from 1973 and was originally Viking Line’s AURELLA.
