Steel cutting starts on the first of Moby’s next-generation ferries
Moby Lines has confirmed that the first of its two Chinese new-builds will be named ‘Moby Fantasy’ as steel cutting begins.
MOBY WONDER is a Moby Lines fast Ro-Pax / Ro-Cruise built by Daewoo in 2001 at a cost of approx €71.5m. During September 2019 Moby Lines agreed to sell MOBY WONDER and her younger part-sister MOBY AKI to DFDS for their Amsterdam (IJmuiden) – Newcastle (South Shields) route.
Moby Lines has confirmed that the first of its two Chinese new-builds will be named ‘Moby Fantasy’ as steel cutting begins.
DFDS will now not be acquiring two vessels from Moby Lines after the latter failed to meet the terms of delivery.
DFDS has entered into an agreement to acquire the two combined freight and passenger ferries Moby Wonder and Moby Aki for the Amsterdam-Newcastle route
