Stena Line has confirmed that the first of its new RoPax ferries currently under construction in China is planned to enter service on its Holyhead – Dublin route early 2020. The following two is assigned to Liverpool-Belfast.

Stena Line announced today that two of its new E-Flexer RoPax ferries currently under construction in China will be introduced on the Belfast – Birkenhead route in 2020 and 2021. The first of the series is planned to enter service on the Holyhead – Dublin route in early 2020.

On Friday 25th August 2017, a ‘steel cutting ceremony’ was held at the AVIC Weihai Shipyard in China to mark the start of the construction of the first of four RoPax vessels ordered by Stena.

Last year Stena announced a newbuild contract of four RoPax ferry vessels with a planned delivery schedule during 2019 and 2020. The contract also contains an option for another four vessels to be ordered. The four vessels are being built at the AVIC Shipyard in China and the plan is to locate the vessels on the Irish Sea, specifically on Stena Line’s routes to and from its expanding Belfast hub.
