TT-Line Company Pty Ltd and European shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG (FSG) have signed a letter of intent for the construction of two new ships to replace the current Spirit of Tasmania vessels. TT-Line chairman Mike Grainger said the companies would now commence contract negotiations and agree to final design specifications.

Stena Line and P&O Ferries will take their Cairnryan vessels out of service for scheduled maintenance and annual survey work during January and May respectively this year. Â With all 4 vessels having received extended attention at dry dock last year it is only necessary to take them out of service for a weekend each.
P&O FERRIES carried the highest volume of freight traffic on its Larne-Cairnryan service in six years in 2017. The figure represents a 1.3 per cent increase on 2016 and is the best result since 2011.

Irish Continental Group plc has entered into an agreement, with the German company Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesselschaft & Co.KG , whereby FSG has agreed to build a cruise ferry for ICG at a contract price of €165.2 million. Upon completion, it will be the largest cruise ferry in the world in terms of vehicle capacity.
