Fishguard to Rosslare ferry STENA EUROPE has arrived at Gladstone Dock, Liverpool, for some final work to be completed at the end of her life-extending refit.

The veteran ferry had been reported to be going to Cammell Laird by some sources, including Shippax. It appears, however, that the work will instead be completed alongside in Liverpool. Recently STENA MERSEY also had work completed at Gladstone Dock rather than at a shipyard.

As previously reported, STENA EUROPE has been absent from the Rosslare to Fishguard route from March undergoing life extension work in Turkey. During this period the exterior of the ship was blasted back to bare metal and repainted. It is understood that the majority of the glazing has been replaced, and her main engines are also said to have been overhauled as part of the technical work. Stena Line have confirmed that the deckhead on the main vehicle deck has been raised to allow the carriage of “maxi” trailers across the whole deck, while photos confirm reports that a modern MES (Marine Evacuation System) was also installed.
