12 Quays (12 Quays river terminal Birkenhead)
The twelve quays river terminal at Birkenhead is currently used by Stena Line services from Belfast and some Isle of Man Steam Packet services. The terminal was opened in 2002 at a cost of £25m to serve Norse Merchant Ferries services from Belfast and Dublin. Until then, services from Belfast and Dublin had used terminals within the Liverpool docks system which added around an hour to each journey due to the need to lock in and lock out.
