Stena Estrid arrives in Europe!

BON VOYAGE: Stena Line’s newest ferry Stena Estrid departs the AVIC Weihai Shipyard in north-western China, bound for its new home on the Irish Sea between Ireland and Britain. Manned by a much-reduced crew of 27, with no passengers on board, the ship will travel on a journey of well over 10,000 miles, taking just over one month and making a number of stops on the way, before finally arriving in Wales from where it will start service in January on the Dublin to Holyhead route.
BON VOYAGE: Stena Line’s newest ferry Stena Estrid departs the AVIC Weihai Shipyard in north-western China, bound for its new home on the Irish Sea between Ireland and Britain. Manned by a much-reduced crew of 27, with no passengers on board, the ship will travel on a journey of well over 10,000 miles, taking just over one month and making a number of stops on the way, before finally arriving in Wales from where it will start service in January on the Dublin to Holyhead route.

Stena Line’s latest ferry, STENA ESTRID, arrived in Spain earlier ahead of beginning the final leg of her journey to Holyhead.  The 41,672 gt vessel is currently moored at Algeciras where she will take on fuel and supplies ahead of her voyage to the UK.  She is also taking on additional crew for training and familiarisation on the journey “home” to the UK which will take her around the western edge of the Iberian peninsula and across the Bay of Biscay.

STENA ESTRID is taking on fuel from the bunkering tanker BLUE VEGA at the time of writing The final leg of her voyage is expected to take STENA ESTRID 3-4 days after which a period of trials and further crew training/drills will commence before she enters service on the Holyhead – Dublin route around mid-January.

As STENA ESTRID gets closer to her new home, more details have been released by Stena about her facilities. Onboard, STENA ESTRID‘s spacious passenger areas include two movie lounges with three 65” screens in each, a Sky Bar with superb views and a glass atrium, a “Taste” restaurant (which overlooks the bow), Barista coffee shop, Hygge Recline Lounge, two Happy World play areas, and a Stena Plus Lounge. There are also 175 new look cabins with Dux mattresses. These include deluxe cabins with balconies and all cabins are equipped with Bazeport Infotainment televisions.  Freight drivers are also catered for with a large 170-seat Truckers Lounge and Restaurant with six 55” televisions, with a maximum of two drivers in each cabin.
