As has been widely reported in the media, what is left of Hurricane Ophelia is expected to hit the UK and Ireland on Monday 16th October ’17. A severe weather warning has already been issued, with the NI Weather and Flood Advisory Service issuing Red and Amber weather warnings and the Met Office an Amber weather warning. As this is expected to be one of the worst storms in recent years, with the coast of Ireland and Northern Ireland expected to be the most badly hit area with winds of up to 80mph predicted, it is likely that there will be disruption to ferry and airline travel as well as potential problems with road and rail links. SAILING UPDATE: Stena Line: Services to and from Cairnryan are expected to be disrupted today with the 07:30 ex Cairnryan and 03:30 and 11:30 ex Belfast already cancelled. All other services except the 23:30 departures are currently listed as ‘in doubt’ on Stena’s Ferry Check website http://www.stenaline.co.uk/latest-sailing-updates. Services to and from Birkenhead are operating to schedule according to the service. Update: All Stena services from 19:30 onwards are operating to schedule P&O Sailings to Cairnryan are currently advised to be operating on schedule, but with high winds in the North Channel (gale force 8) and 6-8 metre waves predicted it is reasonable to say there may be disruption later on. Seatruck services currently appear to be operating to schedule. As always, please contact your preferred operator directly for the latest sailing information.

Chatter on social media suggest that a floating crane is required in order to fix this damage, with the weather also hampering inspection/repair efforts.
