Irish Ferries flagship ULYSSES left the dry dock in Belfast she has occupied for almost a month yesterday, around three and a half hours later than planned.
Irish Ferries Ulysses is set to leave dry dock in Belfast this evening should no further issues arise, a month after her arrival in Belfast Lough.
Irish Ferries’ Dublin to Holyhead flagship Ulysses is still in dry dock at Harland and Wolff Belfast, almost a month after arriving.
As has been widely reported in the media, what is left of Hurricane Ophelia is expected to hit the UK and Ireland on Monday 16th October ’17. A severe weather warning has already been issued, with the NI Weather and Flood Advisory Service issuing Red and Amber weather warnings and the Met Office an Amber weather warning. As this is expected to be one of the worst storms in recent years, with the coast of Ireland and Northern Ireland expected to be the most badly hit area with winds of up to 80mph predicted, it is likely that there will be disruption to ferry and airline travel as well as potential problems with road and rail links. The Belfast – Heysham freight vessel STENA HIBERNIA has been out of service since Monday 28/08/17 with what is understood to be engine problems.

All other services except the 23:30 departures are currently listed as ‘in doubt’ on Stena’s Ferry Check website http://www.stenaline.co.uk/latest-sailing-updates. Services to and from Birkenhead are operating to schedule according to the service. Update: All Stena services from 19:30 onwards are operating to schedule P&O Sailings to Cairnryan are currently advised to be operating on schedule, but with high winds in the North Channel (gale force 8) and 6-8 metre waves predicted it is reasonable to say there may be disruption later on.
