STENA ESTELLE and STENA EBBA are the new generation MkII Stena E-Flexer ferries being introduced on the popular Karlskrona – Gdynia route during 2022. At 239.7m long, they are the first Stena E-Flexer ferries to be built over 215m in length. STENA ESTELLE and STENA EBBA can accommodate 1,200 people plus up to 3,600 lane metres of freight and an additional 200 cars in their own dedicated garage. They are the seventh and eighth Stena E-Flexer class ferries to be delivered.

The first of the ships, STENA ESTELLE, entered service on the Karlskona – Gdynia route on 4 September 2022. Direct-sister STENA EBBA is expected to begin commercial service early in 2023.

Sister-ships

STENA ESTELLE and STENA EBBA are lengthened part-sisters to STENA ESTRID, STENA EDDA, and STENA EMBLA. Brittany Ferries’ GALICIA, SALAMANCA, SANTOÑA, SAINT-MALO, and unnamed new Portsmouth – Caen ship are based on the same E-Flexer platform as STENA ESTELLE and STENA EBBA, as is DFDS’s CÔTE D’OPALE.

Names

STENA ESTELLE shares her name with the second in line to the Swedish throne, Princess Estelle of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland.

Ebba is a popular given name for girls in Sweden and is the feminine form of Ebbe.

The names Estelle and Ebba continue the trend of Stena Line E-Flexer ferries being given names beginning with ‘E’ prefixed with Stena.
